When I was in high school I didn't think of art as anything more than a hobbie. My 10th grade art teacher at the time, Stephanie Lowe, really opened my eyes to the range of possibilities art can offer. She went above and beyond course requirements and brought a new atmosphere in the class. Many of the students, including myself, didn't look at art as anything more than a talent. However, Ms. Lowe showed all of us that art can be an expressive outlet that anyone can pick up. Instead of focusing on perfection, she showed us that everyone had to capability of picking up a pencil or brush and making anything they wanted. It suddenly wasn't about skill and perfection, it was just about being creative and free. This class eventually became an outlet for many students in tackling their adversities or just realizing that for 1 hour they didn't have to think, all they had to do was create. Watching Ms. Lowe guide us inspired me to want to do the same for future students.
